VBOrb history

Jul 1999

VBOrb was born. It was only a test if it is possible to use the IIOP protocol in VB.

Aug 1999

I wrote VB classes to call CORBA objects directly. Starting to write an IDL2VB compiler.

Dec 1999

First i wrote a C-Preprocessor implementation in Java. Than i wrote an IDL-Parser. Finally it was possible to generate VB code.

Jan 2000

Version 0.60 is released. The C-Preprocessor is completed and should be as good as gcc -E. Now pragma, typedefs, structs and sequences (partly) are supported. Now it is possible to call the CosNaming service with generated VB classes. Running in the 39 character problem of VB5.

Feb 2000

IDL typedef and struct work.

March 2000

Version 0.70 is released.

Support of sequences is completed
Starting support of any (a new class cOrbAny is now part of VBOrb)
Null object reference mapping to Nothing
#pragma vbname and #pragma vbclsprefix to solve the 39 character problem
Portnumbers greater than 32000
